Five on Friday

My favorite day of the week comes with my favorite link-up of the week!
I am once again linking-up with the girls for Five on Friday.

In the words of Peter Pan, "Here we gooooo!"

I am in the market for a digital SLR...the only problem?  I haven't a clue what I am doing.  I have done tons of research and still don't feel qualified to make this decision.  I have heard equally good things about Nikon and Cannon.  Based on reviews it seems to come down to what you have worked with before or if someone you know has a certain brand.  I am wanting to spend between $400-$700 and really want to use it to start to get into armature photography.  I really like the Nikon D3200 and the Cannon T3i.  Any tips or advice?

Fossil's Fall jewelry line. I got the Fall catalog in the mail yesterday and have been drooling ever since.  I am such a sucker for good advertising!

Fall is consuming my mind. This looks like peaceful perfection to me.  I haven't been camping in a while, but I remember waking up to cool crisp mornings, hoodies, boots, s'mores, and camp fires.

Our anniversary pictures are in 73 days and I currently have an entire board on Pinterest devoted to ideas.  Here are some of my favorites!  You can find all originals {here}.

I am so excited to share my project with readers soon.  Stay tuned to see what it is!  It may have to do with my dream bedroom.... {read about it here}.

Wine Down Wednesday...I making it a weekly holiday.
Sometimes life calls for wine mid-week.  Don't judge.

  1. That camping picture makes me wish I was there. I've never been camping because I can be quite the diva sometimes about the outdoors. but cold weather and smores sounds awesome! And I want a dslr as well but like you, I wouldn't know where to start. I'll just stick to my phone lol

  2. I know I am supposed to be 100% "Team Nikon" since that is what I have but my friend Lauren has the Rebel T3i and it is a great beginner camera. I do love my Nikon D3100 though, in my opinion you really can't go wrong with either one!

  5. I have a Canon point + shoot but I went with a Nikon D3100 for my "big girl camera" :) Ian got it for Christmas for me and the one I picked out was a refurbished one from adorama.com and it was $100 cheaper!

  9. I've had both a Canon and a Nikon. Had the Canon 500d (sold it later) and purchased the Nikon D7000.

If it helps, Canon's pictures are a lot more creamier whilst Nikon's photos turn out a bit more vibrant. I prefered vibrant so went for Nikon.

  11. I've been wanting to buy a nice camera too but have a hard time forking out the $500+ for it. I've heard the same as you, that Nikon and Canon are the best. Love the Wine Down Wednesday!

  13. I have the cannon rebel xs (I think)... It's been great! We've had it for three years and love it. But honestly, I don't think you can go wrong. Either camera would be much better than a point and shoot! Good luck. It's a big purchase. :)

  15. I am a photographer and I would suggest the T3i for starting out. It is the camera I have and I use my prime lens (its a 50mm) instead of my "kit lens" (the lens the camera comes with ) and it takes great pictures for what I am currently doing. NO you won't be charging people hundreds of dollars using this camera, but it is a great camera to learn on. Other than the T4i it is the newest one in this price range. Good luck if you ever have questions let me know : )
